These Y-splitters are designed to split a 6 or 8 pin PCIE power cable either from an ATX power supply or a Server PSU with a breakout board (common in a GPU Mining Rig) and into 2 x 8 pin (6+2 as the 2 can be detached from the plug in case of use in a riser or if your GPU has a 6 pin socket).
Is it safe to use a 8 or 6 pin splitter?
It is safe to use the Y-splitter as long as the device you're powering doesn't use to much power. We have tested these with PCIE riser cards and are confident to use them for this purpose. If you are going to use it with a Graphics Card please make sure the card uses no more than 150W at peak performance.
We would never use it with High-End cards such as NVIDIA 3090 or AMD 6900XT as these cards use a lot of power. |

The extra flatness allows for better contact with the die, helping to enhance thermal transfer. 2.7-Slot Design The heat spreader draws heat up into heat pipes that carry it through a fin stack that fills most of the card’s large, 2.7-slot footprint. This generation of TUF Gaming graphics cards also feature a dedicated heatsink for VRAM to keep temperatures well under maximum operating specs.
TUF Components Components are selected for TUF Gaming graphics cards based on their durability and performance. It’s Cooler Out Back The underside of the card reveals a host of improvements. Most of the rear is swathed in a protective metal backplate that prominently features a wide vent. The vent allows hot air to escape towards chassis exhaust fans instead of being recycled back into the cooler. Beneath the GPU, a bracket provides consistent mounting pressure between the die and heat spreader. Stainless steel is used for the I/O bracket to protect ports and provide a more secure mount. A conveniently placed Dual Bios switch allows customization of the card’s default performance profile without software.
Functional Front The top-side RGB element can be customized to display a range of aesthetic and functional effects and also synced with other ASUS components to enable uniform lighting.
